This workshop helped to calm my mind and ease my body. Before this workshop my body was extremely tense and it helped to remove my back pain. I would recommend this to anyone who is stressed and / or going through a rough time.

Mindfulness in the Age of Distraction

“Attention is under siege more than it has ever been in human history, we have more distractions than ever before, we have to be more focused on cultivating the skills of attention.”

-- Daniel Goldman (PhD Clinical Psychology)

More than ever it is critical to empower students with practical tools and techniques to increase their ability to focus. This workshop explores how students can develop a more mindful relationship with their technology in order to increase their concentration and reduce stress. Students will learn practical techniques such as the 40-10-10 method, and the “90% rule” as well as learn how Mindfulness Meditation can help build greater self-awareness and reduce technology addictions. Students will be guided through a Mindfulness Meditation session, and will leave with practical techniques that can start doing immediately to begin developing a better relationship with their technology.

Intro to Self-Mastery

In today’s social media dominated environment it is almost impossible to not end up comparing ourselves with others. This workshop introduces the concept of Self-Mastery and provides evidence-based strategies to focus on our own personal development.

Intro to Mindful EQ

Mindful EQ is an evidence-based training system designed to enhance emotional intelligence for college students. Mindful EQ synthesizes the latest research in neurosciencemindfulness, and emotional intelligence to deliver an impactful training in an interactive and engaging manner. Below is a Meta-Analysis from the American Psychological Association investigating the connection between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance.

What our meta-analysis shows is that EI skills are in fact associated with higher academic performance.

The 8 Dimensions of Wellbeing

“People often think about wellness in terms of physical health — nutrition, exercise, weight management, etc., but it is so much more…. Wellness encompasses 8 mutually interdependent dimensions: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, existential, vocational, financial, and environmental. Attention must be given to all the dimensions, as neglect of any one over time will adversely affect the others, and ultimately one’s health, well-being, and quality of life (Stoewen 2017).”

Participants will learn more about each of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness as well as complete their own “wheel of life” to self-assess their own wellbeing. This workshop will also provide evidence-based strategies to help individuals build new habits and strategies to increase their wellbeing within each dimension.

He has worked with a diverse range of students in high-need areas such as the South Bronx (New York City) and Allentown, PA as well as with first-generation college students through his role as the Regional Program Manager of the United States Department of Education’s GEAR UP Program.

Peter presents material in a fun and easy-going manner which appeals to students who might otherwise be resistant to certain activities (i.e. mindfulness).
